JMU Content Academy – Summer 2010

June 28, 2010

The ‘content’ portion of the Academy is well worth the hour and a half drive through harrowing traffic along I81, however, the liberal bloviating about global this and global that could be left out so far as I am concerned! The three instructors for 8-12 Physics/Physical Science Academy are highly qualified, very knowledgeable, great hands-on teachers; I am looking forward to many (four more) good days of pedagogy and content-experience.

Four days (at least) later, the academy has ended and my brain is on fire!  We had many a discussion regarding waves and wave energy, gravitational potential energy, mass and matter, the use of Greek letters in Physical Science/Physics content, energy usage and conservation, et cetera.  Every participant brought some modicum of expertise to the table resulting in a great conversation and professional networking experience.

Thanks to everyone who participated, thus making this Academy one to remember!  More later; currently I am working on creating my two required lesson plans for Highly Qualified credit…
